Introduction for Granule Mining

Successful companies operate their business efficiently. However, with the phenomenal growth of electronic data, it is a challenge for companies to stay competitive in today's market.  To this end, there is an increasing awareness of benefits and potential competitive advantage that knowledge discovery systems (or called data mining) can provide.

It is a big challenge in data mining to guarantee the quality of discovered knowledge in multidimensional databases because of the huge amount of patterns and noises. The essential issue is to provide efficient methods for interpreting meaningful discovered knowledge. Granule mining is a new initiative for solving this challenge.  Rather than using patterns, it uses granules and a multi-tier structure to manage association rules. The significant innovation is that people can discuss meaningful association rules based on relations between association rules and their general rules.
